Partner guide · Working with MSPs

Build the client AI plan with their MSP

Many of your clients already have an MSP. When they do, the MSP is usually the right operator for the AI service you design: they know the client's systems, already hold the support relationship and can sell the service month after month.

When should an AI consultant involve the client’s MSP?

Early. If the client's IT support is outsourced, the MSP will handle the tickets, devices and changes your AI plan depends on. Bring them in during the assessment, not after the pilot, so they can say what they can run and what it will cost the client.

Kaseya's 2026 State of the MSP found that 48% of MSPs see AI and automation as their clients' top need, while only 13% earn meaningful revenue from it (Kaseya, April 2026). A consultant who arrives with a plan the MSP can run is solving the MSP's problem too.

Who owns the client relationship and the decision?

You lead the client's AI decision. The MSP keeps its support relationship. The MSP decides whether to adopt NetZen as its platform, and the client decides whether to buy the managed AI service the MSP offers. Nobody's relationship is taken over.

Handover checklist: consultant to MSP

  • The MSP has agreed to adopt NetZen and run the service
  • Service desk move scheduled: tickets, clients and users
  • Client knowledge sources added, each with an owner
  • The pilot action tested by the MSP, with its approver set
  • Handoff owner, support hours and response times agreed
  • Upkeep schedule: knowledge, credentials, retesting, monthly review
  • Acceptance checks passed and observed by the client

The full readiness checklist is in the partner playbook, with a CSV download.

Which client workflows fit NetZen?

Workflows the MSP already supports and wants to run better: answers from the client's own handbook with the source shown, software requests with an approval, device problems with a known fix, and access requests for business applications. NetZen runs automations in a browser, through an API or on a device, and hands anything the AI cannot finish to a technician with what it already checked.

See how MSPs package this as a service on AI for your clients.

What changes when the MSP adopts NetZen?

NetZen is the MSP's full service desk, RMM and automation platform, not an add-on to another one, so adoption includes moving the MSP's service desk to NetZen. Plan that move with the MSP; it is usually the longest step. AI is included per technician (US$100 list), with no per-employee AI seat for the client. See pricing.

Who maintains knowledge, credentials and approvals?

The MSP, as part of the service it sells. Agree in writing who updates the client's knowledge sources when procedures change, who renews the credentials automations use, who retests actions after system updates, and who approves changes on tickets. The MSP can price this as the monthly part of a managed AI service.

Who pays NetZen, and what earns commission?

The MSP pays NetZen for its technicians. Your commission is 15% of the eligible subscription fees NetZen collects from that MSP for its first 24 months, when you registered the MSP as the opportunity and we accepted it before its trial. It is not a share of what the MSP charges its clients. Details are in the partner terms.

Questions partners ask

Yes, if you are working with their client. Register the MSP as the opportunity, naming the client you work with, before the MSP starts a NetZen trial. The MSP decides whether to adopt NetZen; an introduction cannot commit it.

No. NetZen pays your commission. The MSP sells its managed AI service to the client at its own price; your own services are agreed with the client.

No. A Copilot assessment prepares a Microsoft 365 tenant for Copilot. This is about running IT support and approved automations day to day. Many clients will want both.
